Non-dualistic meditation is a style of meditation that places emphasis on the recognition that there is no separation between the meditator and the rest of the world.

To be honest, when I first started this meditation practice, I didn’t think too much of it.
I definitely didn’t expect it to have the huge, mind-blowing influence on my life that it has!
But before I dive deeper into my own experience with it, let me tell you more about non-dualistic meditation and how it works!
What is non-dualistic meditation?
As I just mentioned, non-dualistic meditation focuses on the fact that there is no separation between the meditator and the rest of the world.
In other words, it encourages users to recognize that they are not separate from their surroundings.
In fact, when people meditate in this manner, they often report experiencing an intense feeling of oneness with everything around them.
For example, some people who try non-dualistic meditation feel as if they are a tree or a bird, or even a rock!
This feeling of oneness with everything around you can lead to some extremely powerful experiences!
This meditation has roots in Dzogchen, Advaita Vedanta, and Neo-Advaita.
Basically, the aim of it is to become nothing but Awareness – pure consciousness.
It’s a style of meditation that encourages the meditator to see the world and their life as nothing but a manifestation of energy.
The goal is to reach enlightenment or a state of pure consciousness.
While this may sound like an impossible feat, it’s actually quite simple!
You see, there is the theory that everything in the universe, from the tiniest bug to the most distant star, is a manifestation of energy.
But not just that, according to this theory, everything is made of the same energy and belongs to the same collective consciousness.
In simple terms, we are all one.
If you’re able to see the world and your life as nothing but a manifestation of energy, then you’re already there!
If you can become aware that everything around you is nothing but consciousness, then that’s all there is.
When you reach this state of mind, you’ll be in a state of pure consciousness – a state beyond the body and mind.
The idea behind non-dualistic meditation is to reach this state by realizing that there’s no separation between the meditator and the rest of the universe.
In other words, it encourages users to recognize that they are not separate from their surroundings.
Now: why is that a good thing?
Well, when you realize that everything is connected as one, you will start to understand that nothing happens in isolation.
Therefore, you’ll realize that everything you do affects the world around you.
This realization will make you more compassionate and conscious of your actions, because you’ll know that whatever you do will have an impact on others.
In other words, non-dualistic meditation will not only make you more aware of the world around you, but it will also help to increase your empathy and improve your relationships with others!
Plus, you will realize that no matter how alone you feel, you are always a part of one big Whole.
How does non-dualistic meditation work?

This might sound strange or difficult to believe at first, but the key to understanding this is that there is no distinction between you and everything else.
Yes, you are a separate entity, but you are also a part of the world around you.
We are all interconnected and non-dualistic meditation aims to help you see that.
There are a number of different non-dualistic meditation practices that you can use to achieve this.
The thing is, in order for this to work, you need to grasp the fact that you are simultaneously an individual with your own experience, as well as part of the Whole.
So, how do you actually do that?
Well, the most important thing is to try and understand that everything is nothing but consciousness.
Not only your body, but also the things around you are made of consciousness!
This might be difficult to grasp at first, but it will become easier with time.
There are many ways to make non-dualistic meditation work. One of the best ones is definitely a guided meditation, especially if you are new to all of this.
Now: When I first started out with non-dualistic meditation (and my spiritual journey, in general), I wasn’t sure where to start.
Some of my friends had been on this path for longer than I had, and so I went and asked them for help.

Mindfulness meditation
Mindfulness meditation is a non-dualistic meditation practice that involves bringing your full attention to the present moment.
This can be anything, but it should be something that you’re experiencing right now.
For example, you can meditate while listening to the birds and really focus on the present moment.
You can also meditate while taking a walk outside and really focus on the feeling of your feet hitting the ground and the wind blowing against your face!
While you are being mindful of that, remember the fact that you are one with the world and everything in it.
Guided meditation
I already mentioned this earlier, but especially if you are just starting out, guided meditations can be a great place for you to start!
Guided meditations can be especially helpful if you’re having trouble feeling the presence of God or the universe, or if you’re having trouble relaxing your body and mind.
If this is the case, guided meditations can help to guide you into a state of peace and relaxation, which is essential when practicing non-dualistic meditation.
They give you the right prompts to really grasp the concept of non-duality.
Breathing practices
This is another type of non-dualistic meditation practice that can be really effective.
For example, some people like to focus on their breath when they meditate.
You can do this by sitting in a comfortable position and bringing your full attention to your breath.
The idea behind this practice is that your mind will naturally get distracted by other things, but every time that happens just bring your full attention back to breathing.
This will help with both taking control of your thoughts and calming down in general!
Different poses
You might be wondering which poses are the best for non-dualistic mediation.
Well, to be fair, there isn’t really a wrong or right answer here.
Two of the most popular mediation poses are:
sitting in a cross-legged position
lying down
Whatever position helps you focus the most is the right one for you!
What to expect when practicing non dualistic meditation
As with any type of meditation practice, you can expect to experience some positive benefits after practicing non-dualistic meditation regularly.
These benefits might come on slowly and subtly, or you might notice them almost immediately after starting your practice.
It all depends on the individual and the type of meditation you’re doing.
That being said, if you practice non-dualistic meditation, you can expect to experience some or all of the benefits I mentioned earlier.
Now: it’s important to note that for some people, it takes a while until they finally get a glimpse of the non-dualistic state.
It’s a bit like peeling an onion, one layer at a time.
Some people will experience it right away, and for others it might take a longer time until they experience it.
The good news is that you will know when you reach the non-dualistic state because your mind will feel like it’s calm and at peace.
Plus, you’ll feel more connected than ever to yourself, your inner being, and the world around you.
Spiritual awakenings
One thing that I want to mention here is that there is a possibility that you will experience a so-called spiritual awakening when you reach the non-dualistic state.
This is a very powerful experience that has the potential to change your life forever.
If it happens, it will most likely happen naturally as you meditate and reach that state of being.
A spiritual awakening is exactly what it sounds like: you are waking up to a new level of consciousness.
If you’ve never thought about non-duality before, this meditation could very well blow your mind in a way that will make you never see the world through the same eyes again.
Now, that’s not a bad thing.
In fact, it’s a very good thing!
However, it’s important to know that this is a possibility when you practice non-dualistic meditation.
Things to be aware of when doing non dualistic meditation
As with any type of meditation practice, there are some things that you’ll want to keep in mind while you’re doing non-dualistic meditation.
These things might be limitations that you need to be aware of or things that you might want to steer clear of while meditating.
You need to be comfortable
This one is pretty obvious, but you need to make sure that you’re physically comfortable while meditating.
If you’re not comfortable, you’re not going to be able to relax and meditate properly.
Make sure to choose a meditation pose that you’re comfortable in.
You don’t need to do it for hours at a time
Non-dualistic meditation doesn’t need to be done for hours at a time!
You can do it for 10 minutes a day, two times a day, or even once a day if that’s all you have time for.
It’s better to meditate for 10 minutes every day than to attempt to meditate for an hour once per week!
As mentioned above, you don’t need to meditate for an hour at a time!
You can split your non-dualistic meditation practice up into multiple sessions if you have time for only a short meditation each day.
You don’t need to be sitting
While you might see people sitting cross-legged while meditating, this isn’t something that you have to do!
You can choose to meditate while standing, while lying down, while walking, or in any other way that feels comfortable to you.
When it comes to meditation, there really is no wrong or right way to go about it, you just need to find a way that works for you!
Can non dualistic meditation be dangerous?
Non-dualistic meditation is definitely not dangerous.
It’s actually a very safe practice and one that has been around for thousands of years.
In fact, there are many studies that suggest that meditating regularly can actually lower your risk of developing certain diseases!
So can non-dualistic meditation be dangerous? No, it cannot.
Unless you consider drastically changing your life for the better and reaping tons of mental, physical and spiritual benefits to be dangerous, then no.
My experience
Now that I’ve told you all about non-dualistic mediation, I thought I could explain my own experience a bit.
After talking to a psychic at Psychic Source, I finally understood the concept a bit better.
When I tried it myself, my mind was blown. All of a sudden, I had a much clearer and more focused mind.
I was able to see things in a new light, and I saw things differently than I had before.
I’m still working on the process, but I’m definitely getting there.

However, things didn’t really go as planned, my mind was restless and I had a hard time concentrating on my breathing.
I learned my lesson: even when you feel like you had a breakthrough, meditation will be different every single day, depending on what is going on inside of you.
But that’s nothing negative, that’s the beauty of it all!
I wanted to mention this in case you beat yourself up over not being able to focus properly.
Don’t worry, it’s normal.
Just keep practicing and eventually, you’ll get to where you want to be!
